Our goal is to reach Greenland’s coastline as far north as the pack ice border and weather allows. We continue west towards Greenland and take turns searching for whales from the open decks. The expedition cruise starts in Spitsbergen, where we embark the small and comfortable ship Sea Endurance. During the first part of the expedition, we explore Spitsbergen’s fjord-indented coastline, framed by pointed mountains and magnificent glaciers fronts. Rock formations like you have never seen before and glaciers everywhere. Northeast Greenland National Park, covering an area over of over 972,000 square kilometres, is the world’s largest national park. On this exciting Arctic expedition, we venture into one of the largest remaining wilderness areas in the Northern Hemisphere, where large areas are virtually untouched by man. Most of the year this ice-choked coast is inaccessible and it is only in late summer, when the tundra is clad in autumn colours, that we have a chance to get here. The grandiose landscape is dominated by glaciers and beautifully shaped icebergs. Join us on an expedition cruise to Northeast Greenland – one of the last unspoiled wildernesses in the world. Don’t be surprised if you are shooting from dawn to sunset. We will have numerous presentation not only on the region we are visiting but also on photo techniques that will surely inspire you.Īs a photographic cruise, we will be working to make sure we visit locations at the best times for ideal light. Learning and sharing never stops as we have time to share in the observation lounge and during meals. Since this a ship cruise we will be together the whole time. So to me they seem quite confident about the future of the global shutter… and once it will be part of the GFX system, many out there will be happy to have invested in smaller, less complex and cheaper GF lenses due to the lack of leaf shutter, that work perfectly with the new global shutter.Facebook Tweet August 27th – SeptemAN 11-DAY EXPEDITION FROM SPITSBERGENĪrt Wolfe of Art Wolfe Photography and Kevin Raber of Luminous-Landscape join forces to host a workshop to the East Coast of Greenland August 27th – September 6, 2017. And we also always imagine our X-series with global shutter.” Of course we expect it, but currently we don’t have any ideas, because we don’t have that sensor.” Billy: “ When the global shutter sensor comes to be, it will be a big change just to the whole camera industry, taking away all the limitations of current electronic shutters.” Oishi: “ We always imagine: if the GFX has global shutter, so we can imagine something new. So the current lenses, whatever sensor technology comes down the road, will still be capable and that’s one of the key benefits of going with the focal plane shutter.”Īnd what about the global shutter? Is Fuji looking at this possibility? Fuji Manager Oishi answeres: “ Of course we know about the global shutter, and it will change the photography world. Will we ever see a GFX with even more megapixel.īilly’s answer: “ The focal plane shutter design allows the GFX to be expandable. Kevin also asks what about the future evolution. Billy says that the sensor is highly customized, from the microlens to the silicon process. Kevin asks if Fujifilm uses a Sony sensor. So they say that Fujifilm is already talking with Adobe for support and that adapters are possible, even for leaf shutter lenses, made by Fujifilm or third-party manufacturers. Some interesting aspects I can highlight for those, who are in a hurry and can’t watch the Video right now.īilly and Oishi mentioned several times that, thanks to the Fujifilm GFX development announcement, Fujifilm can already discuss with other manufacturers and software companies and work early on supported products for the GFX.
